Back

I’m finally back home, and judging by all the work I have to do now, vacation-time is over. New York was a blast. The American Illustration 28 party was a complete gongshow, and I mean that in the best of ways (note: don’t give 400 people unlimited access to free alcohol). Also, I went to SVA with Genevieve as she had a meeting lined up with the great Marshall Arisman, curious about their Masters program. Then it was off to the Met to see a mindblowing show about The Samurai. I walked away from that wanting a sword sooo badly. And armour.
On the day before our departure I had just finished up what you see above for FFWD weekly in Calgary: a cover illustration for their cover story about spin in the media. But I wasn’t in the clear yet. With a few hours left in the day before I had to pack it up, Taylor Shute from EYE Weekly in Toronto needed a last-minute cover illustration as well. I was about to decline, but after seeing his roughs and the ideas he had in mind, the illustration was totally doable – basically, an image of a ‘man-baby’ floating on a white background. You can see it in the cover section on my website. With that done, I had two cover illustrations for two weeklys in two cities in two provinces at the same time. Neat!
My current busyness, all due by the end of the month: a two-page spread for Scandinavia’s EuroMan magazine, another spot for the Globe and Mail, and the usual monthly request from Transworld Snowboarding. Not to mention IBS4 and the graphic novel that needs to be ready for the Royal Bison.
EDIT: It has come to my attention that I’ve been snapped up in a random photo from the AI28 party. I’m the guy double fisting the booze, captioned as “A Canadian”.
