Hell yeah! I opened up my mail today — just like last post — to be greeted by more treasure. This time the return address was that of super talented illustrator, and mega friendly good guy, Chris Kuzma. A while back he asked me if I’d like to whip up some images for his upcoming book, COMPLEX. Good idea! So I tossed him a small handful of images and almost forgot about it as time passed. But holding them today I see I took part in something special. The print quality is top notch and his comic is great. Support good Canadian cartoons.

Yet another project keeping me busy for the month of November was the third chapter of We Hate This Place Here; It’s Our Home. Apologies for not hyping this one up — my hands were a bit full with Q Without U, organizing the Royal Bison, taking on necessary illustrative work, and this. Focusing around the character of Claire, this chapter revolves around a long walk in the cold winter’s cold night, complete with many refreshing drinks at Edmonton’s more than awesome Black Dog Freehouse. Three chapters down, three to go; or for technical heads, 101 pages inked and roughly 100 more to go.

In other news, David Berry has moved away to Toronto, though for very good reasons. What does this mean? Overdrive. It’s already been over a year in the making, and with half of the project complete, it’s time to turn up the heat. With no mural standing in the way, we plan on focusing all our energies (over the internet) and having this beast completed for the spring time. So stay tuned.

Things on the go! The Royal Bison Art + Craft Fair is approaching. This time around it is completely organized by myself and two others swell pals, Vikki and Jeanie. Perhaps I’ll see you there, on November 27th and 28th? You can expect to see chapter 3 of We Hate This Place Here premiere at the Bison, as well as International Beauty Saloon: 5, AND a revised and updated version of Q without U that is not only a children’s book, but also an upcoming album by A.O.K. Tomorrow night is the Refinery night at the Art Gallery of Alberta, a soiree of art and fun and sips that tends to go fairly late. It coincides with their fresh exhibitions, and within that, they also commission a few local creators-of-things-visual to make something special for all the people attending. I was one of the approached this time around, and proposed the idea of making a small little book / zine that relates to their current (and awesome) Warner Bros. exhibition. It’s a bit crude and crass and lo-fi, andt if you want one, you have to come to Refinery night. Each ticket comes with a signed and stamped copy of the zine. Will they become coasters or collectibles for all those late night partiers, only time will tell…

The Royal Bison is over and the latest installment of We Hate This Place Here; It’s Our Home is available for purchase online. Also, keep a look out for its availability at Nokomis and Eden Lily (here in Edmonton) in the coming days. It’s just a matter of walking through our recent snow storm to deliver them…

Besides that, you can also expect to see a re-print of Chapter One by the end of this week, or early next, as it’s hard to sell part two of something when part one is all gone…

I’ve just received an e-mail from the fine frenchmen running Delkographik out in Rennes, France. Turns out about 300 people or so showed up for the Fifteen opening. Great!

HELLO! If you’ve been wondering if I died, you are mistaken. The lack of recent posts has been due to an overwhelming amount of time (last minute as usual) recently put into the latest installment of We Hate This Place Here; It’s Our Home. Chapter two, Food Court, is ready for its premiere at this weekend’s upcoming Royal Bison Art & Craft Fair. Written by David Berry and illustrated by moi, this chapter also comes in at a hefty defty 35 pages, printed in sweet, glorious black and white, just like its predecessor. Oh, and it will be hand bound by yours truly, as well.

Once this weekend’s Royal Bison is complete, I’ll have chapter two ready for purchase on the ol’ online shop. Until then, I ask that you are patient.
