Ever since I was aware of editorial illustration as (somewhat) of a career path, I’ve had OWL mag in my sights as a dream client. It’s one of those magazines even my mother recognizes as having a very popular impact on the younger generations! My siblings and I had a subscription to the magazine at a young age as well, and we always gawked over the funny and informative articles that shaped us so. Another huge thumbs up goes to OWL for its long standing support and use of illustrations in their issues, going all the way back to 1976! As a young boy I’m sure I copied and learned from many of the drawings found within those pages, or at least found much inspiration in them.
Well my chance has finally come! In this month’s issue of OWL (Dec.2010), I had the opportunity to (hopefully) inspire some members of the younger generation with some drawings of my own. It was a real fun illustration to take on, and working with Susan Sinclair was a blast! The sight of that cute innocent banana going bad still makes me chuckle out loud.
Also to look forward to: is a book coming out in the winter months, published by Owl Kids with a nice handful of illustrations by yours truly! Not sure if I can really say more than that at the moment, but as soon as it’s getting a bit more press I’ll be sure to let you know as well.
