It’s not too often that I’m commissioned to do portraits; probably because things found in my portfolio are usually grotesque, barfy, and silly and such. Recently, there was an opportunity for these drawings to be run through the Vancouver Observer, but alas, job got killed last minute.  They were to be incorporated into a discussion between a Vancouver 2010 Olympics critic and  an Olympics Supporter.  Too bad that this is about as far as the illo will ever get, as there was something about these light pencil roughs that I really enjoyed. . .

Earlier in the year, I was asked to submit a T-shirt design for Transworld Snowboarding Mag. I came across this image recently and realized that it has never seen the light of day, so I thought I’d post it on here and give it a world premiere.

I think the design was pretty cool, with the whole big snow demon face / fight scene dual image thing going on. It was to be in relation to the Angry Interns page, and I think it suits the ‘aesthetic attitude’ pretty well. I tried to have it formatted to fit as a full frontal T-shirt print. Colour was never added, but it probably would have been had the image been approved.

But alas, it never came to be. Word on the street was that HQ needed to approve of it and that was the last I heard. Nothing ever came of it, though I sort of wish it did, as I think it could look ultra cool on anyone’s shirt. But I am biased.

Maybe I should just print it myself. Is there demand out there?
