Idiots. But I was curious, so I researched this new zodiac, and found out his name is Ophiuchus, and since the dawn of forever ago, he’s been hanging out in the sky with a giant snake around his waste. Also turns out he bumped my Sagittarius out of the way. But really, who gives a sh*t about that astrology bologna.

Anyway I recently had some printing time booked up at SNAP, so on my last day I thought I’d run in there and quickly bust off a print without any plans – the result seen above. A very short run of prints: only 4 were made on nice 300lb watercolour paper. You can bid on one of them at the upcoming 53 Ways To Leave Your Lover at Latitude 53. If you can’t wait for that or hate auctions and want to buy one privately, e-mail me.

As I probably said before, I love making music posters – and I likes them even more when they are screen printed. So, with good pal and studio assistant Brody Irvine (multi-instrumentalist in Wool On Wolves), we headed off to SNAP and busted out 50 copies that they sold at their two shows; one in Edmonton and one in Calgary. The poster is one part fairly tale, one part creepy, 2 colours, and as some have pointed out, reminiscent of a vagina. Weirdos.

Delkographik, based out of Rennes, France, is putting on a show entitled Fifteen, showcasing 15 cartoonists from around the globe. Each of us has been asked to produce one serigraph ready “comic strip” image to be printed by the talented Anaick Moriceau for the show. How nice to not have to worry about doing all the print work and having to mail it all the way across the Atlantic. Oh the internet! The list of other included artists / cartoonists is international, awesome, and includes one of my personal favourites, VICE‘s own Johnny Ryan. Oh, and it’s in French, yay!

My submitted image is above, dealing with the plight of having a face that endlessly transforms. The torment!

Where are you from? is a poster show being put on by good pal, and designustrator, Gabe Wong, along with around 15-20 other artists revolving around the idea of, well, where we all come from. It opens September 4th at The ARTery, here in Edmonton. Each artist has been asked to make an image in poster-form that relates to the theme of the show, where do we come from?

SO, I drew from a memory where I was driving my father’s truck at the tender age of 5 or so, sans seatbealt, with my dad smoking 10 sorts of cigarettes at once. Sure, I was only sitting at the wheel for a mere few seconds, but the memory really stuck. It also struck a chord about a childhood where the duty of discovery, exploration, and most importantly, danger, are placed upon the shoulders of the child his or herself (maybe with the slightest amount of ‘adult supervision’). The poster is titled “Are we dead yet?”, alluding to the classic childhood roadtrip saying “Are we there yet?”, but with a good disregard for safety and well-being: two ingredients for a good time, something that seems to be slowly disappearing in today’s overexposed Facebooked, GPS’d, cell-phone saturated culture…

The poster is a 2 colour screen-print with only 12 copies printed in total, measuring 50cm x 70cm. If they don’t sell out at the show (most likely) I’ll throw them online for your purchasing pleasure!
