CLYW & me

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Chris, the awesome engineer and brain behind Caribou Lodge Yoyo Worksasked me to make some imagery to be laser engraved onto their latest lineup of professional quality, world championship yoyos. On one side you have an angry bunch of weirdos. On the other, a happy bunch. In the end, it’s just a bunch of weirdos. ALERT: Of the series you see above, only 11 were made, and 9 are for sale.

MEN of Barber Ha 2012

Sunday, November 27th, 2011

A calendar I designed for Barber Ha, a most awesome barber shop here in Edmonton.
Photos by Aaron at 3TEN Photo. Funny one liners by Jon Mick. It comes in at 12″ x 18″ and only costs $20 with all proceeds going to a local charity for men. Get it at the Royal Bison now. Otherwise, go get a haircut and buy one at the shop itself.

The Royal Bison is complete.
Fresh wares from the previous weekend include: International Beauty Saloon 5: CATS Issue and We Hate This Place Here; It’s Our Home PART ONE (which includes Chapters one through three). I really think IBS5:CATS is the funniest one yet. Buy it now at our ETSY store.

Purchaseable editions of WHTP will appear shortly. In store in Edmonton, and Toronto.

Yet another project keeping me busy for the month of November was the third chapter of We Hate This Place Here; It’s Our Home.
Apologies for not hyping this one up — my hands were a bit full with Q Without U, organizing the Royal Bison, taking on necessary illustrative work, and this. Focusing around the character of Claire, this chapter revolves around a long walk in the cold winter’s cold night, complete with many refreshing drinks at Edmonton’s more than awesome Black Dog Freehouse. Three chapters down, three to go; or for technical heads, 101 pages inked and roughly 100 more to go.

In other news, David Berry has moved away to Toronto, though for very good reasons. What does this mean? Overdrive. It’s already been over a year in the making, and with half of the project complete, it’s time to turn up the heat. With no mural standing in the way, we plan on focusing all our energies (over the internet) and having this beast completed for the spring time. So stay tuned.

BUY IT!

In the mean time, feel free to buy a copy of the newest chapter of
We Hate This Place Here; It’s Our Home. Or any of the previous chapters if you’ve missed out.
They are waiting for you. And if you buy more than one, things get cheaper!

Q Without U

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

One of the projects that kept me busy for a large portion of November was Q Without U.
If you own a copy of the now ultra-rare International Beauty Saloon 3, you may recognize this tale of love and letters written by Omar Mouallem, a.k.a. AOK in the world of hip-hop.

Crudely drawn when it first appeared in IBS3, Omar and I thought we’d re-examine the tale with some added colour, some freshly drawn imagery, and some killer hip-hop to see how it stands on its own as a children’s book / rap album. Yes, included within the contents of Q Without U is a download code that enables you to download AOK’s newest album. Talk about keeping it real in the digital age. It was released this past weekend at the Royal Bison Art + Craft Fair with great success, in part to Omar’s handy ways with press releases. What a guy.

So go ahead, support local independant music, and art, and buy your copy of Q Without U today for only $10.

Also: I have a copy of the book to give away! Be the first to leave a comment with a word that involves both letters Q and U, and I’ll mail a copy your way, complete with a little drawing on the inside by yours truly.

Nov. 5

Things on the go! The Royal Bison Art + Craft Fair is approaching. This time around it is completely organized by myself and two others swell pals, Vikki and Jeanie. Perhaps I’ll see you there, on November 27th and 28th? You can expect to see chapter 3 of We Hate This Place Here premiere at the Bison, as well as International Beauty Saloon: 5, AND a revised and updated version of Q without U that is not only a children’s book, but also an upcoming album by A.O.K. Above, a selection of submitted drawings for Chris Kuzma‘s upcoming Complex, which you will see more of, I assure you!
