Happening tonight at the ARTLIFE Gallery in Calgary is the Sled Island Music Festival Poster Show. Every year a select number of artists are asked to design posters for some of the festival’s “bigger” acts, and this year I was lucky enough to be asked to do the posters for one of my favourite bands of recent times, Liars.

These are three colour serigraph prints made by hand by yours truly. These are printed on lovely 15″x 20″ Stonehenge paper. Sexy!

Liars’ first show is an early evening show on the 26th of June, where they play at about 8pm at an outdoor venue, thus the orange sunset / hue in the print. The next night they play a more “all ages” show, on the 27th at 1 am, therefore a night scene. Each of the posters come in editions of only 50. I will be at both Liars shows with these posters for sale. They will be going for $20 a pop! If you can’t make it to the concerts themselves, go to the ARTlife gallery tonight and scoop one up. They are selling at the gallery for $30 per print, and they only have 5 of each, so there’s a chance that they won’t last long!

Now that the Royal Bison is done and over with, it’s time to unveil the new stock at the International Beauty Saloon Store.

Firstly, the brand new issue of our IBS zine, IBS3. It is more than twice as thick, and is jam packed with great content from about 11 contributors. It’s going for the same low price as it always has… $5 plus shipping.

The fine folks over at the Owl and Lion Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland, have recently opened up an exhibition called Story Motel where you can find a nice handful of various handmade zines from 2009. Genevieve and I were approached by the gallery to submit some zines as well, so we threw  a few copies of International Beauty Saloon, Issue 2 their way. If you live in Edinburgh, or are simply just passing through, swing by the gallery and check it out / buy all those lovely zines!

On a side note, the Royal Bison is coming up right away, which means new prints and a new, double thick issue of International Beauty Saloon with contributors from Vancouver to New York. You don’t want to miss this one!

Genevieve and I finally got our butts in gear and have our mini-store site up and running. It’s at International-bs.ca. It’s Pay Pal friendly, and if you buy more than one thing, shipping costs (could) go down, down, down! (Duh)

Our selection of goods is currently pretty small. But keep your eyes open. It should be updated on the exact moment we have something for new sale… and every now and then you might even find some authentic Original Art pieces as well.

Genevieve and I finally pummeled these books out! Thanks to finally getting ourselves organized in the ways of home screen printing, we’ve been able to make some lovely IBS covers for all your visual needs. These will be for sale at the Royal Bison Craft + Art Fair. Cheap. More of our sell-ables to come soon (e.g. prints)!

Coming up on the 29th + 30th of November is the Royal Bison Art & Craft Fair. Both Genevieve & I will be sharing a table full of goods worth giving money for. But worry not. It will be madly cheap and very worth your while(s). We will be debuting a small art book we have been slaving over for the past few days. Let’s call it the first issue of a zine we would like to try and publish slightly frequently. It will be composed of 25 drawings each, as well as having a beautiful screenprinted cover! I will show you more in the coming week!

Also, the main site has just been recently updated with three small black and white doodles. Colour illo update to come shortly!
