NPG show / Toronto

The National Portrait Gallery show opening, June 11th, 7pm
at Latitude 53, a highly anticipated art show here in Edmonton. In it you will find many great art pieces in many great mediums from the minds of many great artists. My submitted piece, seen above, sits in at a crude and hefty 22″ x 30″ on juicy 300lb watercolour paper (mmm). I’d say it definitely looks best in “real life” – as most non-digital work do – as there are subtle textures that cannot be seen here. It’s a quasi-portrait of a retired Canadian senator with a sprinkling of a few Canadian killers…

Other notable artists in the show include one of my good pals, and a definite personal fave, Brandon J. Blommaert, the great Canadian Douglas Coupland, my old neighbour in Calgary Terrance Houle, and local cool dude Nickelas Johnson.

Tomorrow I’m off to Toronto for the National Magazine Awards, as Genevieve, as well as my good pal Byron, have both been nominated as best new visual creators. Sounds like a good excuse to get down!
